Confused what to eat at weddings? Bengaluru techie builds AI tool that creates personalised eating plans without overloading the stomach
A Bengaluru software professional developed BuffetGPT, an AI tool designed to tackle the overwhelming Indian wedding buffet dilemma. The AI scans buffet dishes, offering a personalized eating plan to help guests sample more food without overeating...

Indian wedding buffets are famous for their endless food options and equally famous for leaving guests overwhelmed. Many people walk away regretting what they missed. Pankaj says this frustration pushed him to use artificial intelligence to solve what he calls a common dining dilemma.
What is BuffetGPT
Calling wedding buffets “a scam,” Pankaj shared his experience of leaving weddings unhappy about skipped dishes. That frustration led to BuffetGPT. He described it simply as, “AI agent that scans entire buffet and gives you a game plan.”According to him, the tool uses computer vision to identify every dish on display. It then calculates what to eat, what to skip, and how much to consume based on “actual stomach volume physics,” aiming to maximise food variety without discomfort.
Early testing at a wedding
BuffetGPT is still at a very early stage. Pankaj said the tool has only been tested as an alpha version at a friend’s wedding. Despite the limited testing, he said it delivered “decent results.”Wrapping up his post with humour, he wrote, “Honestly, this is what my computer science degree was for.”
How social media reacted
Social media users quickly jumped in with praise, curiosity, and jokes. One user wrote, “This is insane. How did you even think of this? This is what AI should be used for.”Another commented, “Another real-world attempt that is out of the box.”
When a user asked, “This is amazing..how does the agent scan, one has to show it around the buffet? Or a drone can be used,” Pankaj replied, “I have to give it photos.”
Some even suggested upgrades. One post said, “now connect this to your rayban meta glasses.” Another user agreed with the idea, writing, “This is exactly the need of the hour????????.”
Not everyone is convinced
A few users were less impressed. One joked, “Imagine by the time AI decides what to eat, the uncles already finished everything.”Another took a sarcastic swipe, saying, “thanks for finding a solution to a problem no one had.”
