New panel formed to find solutions
Meanwhile, to bolster Bengaluru's reputation as India's IT-BT capital and its equivalent to Silicon Valley, the state government has formed a new committee dedicated to identifying long-term solutions for the city's infrastructure issues. This initiative addresses the persistent challenges of waterlogging, flooding, and traffic congestion that have negatively impacted Bengaluru's global standing.

An official government order (GO) issued on October 15 announced the committee's creation, led by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru's in-charge minister, DK Shivakumar. IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge serves as the vice-chairman, while the committee comprises 11 additional members, including the Bengaluru city police commissioner and the BBMP chief commissioner, facilitating a collaborative approach across various departments.

The GO emphasized Bengaluru's significance as the headquarters for major Indian IT firms like Infosys and Wipro, as well as international giants such as Google, Microsoft, and IBM. It underscored the necessity of maintaining infrastructure in critical employment zones like Electronics City, Whitefield, and Manyata Tech Park, where hundreds of thousands of professionals work daily.

"... With Bengaluru hosting esteemed companies, the selected members will engage in discussions to address the daily challenges faced by these organizations in the city," the order stated.
