Bengaluru metro update: BMRC Namma Metro purple line service affected at these stations. Here is current status

A technical snag halted metro train services on Bangalore's Purple Line for several hours on Tuesday. The disruption, detected during the early morning commute between Baiyappanahalli and Garudacharpalya stations, led to trains operating at reduced speeds, creating delays across the line. Passengers faced significant crowds at stations, notably at Majestic.

BMRCL says it will take time to normalise the service

In response to the issue, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) deployed three short-loop trains between Majestic and Baiyappanahalli to alleviate congestion, as confirmed by Chief Public Relations Officer B L Yashavanth Chavan. Although the snag was resolved by 9:20 am, train schedules remained disrupted, requiring an additional thirty minutes to stabilize. Chavan reassured commuters, stating, "We are making efforts to resume normal frequency as soon as possible."

Authorities said that they have dispatched teams to address the technical problem, working diligently to restore services. Meanwhile, passengers were advised to expect delays and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

BMRCL issues apology

BMRCL also issued an apology for the inconvenience, stating on Twitter, "The technical snag on the purple line is set right at 9.20 am and trains are moving at the schedules speeds. It takes some more time to normalize the cascading effects and to run as per schedule. Inconvenience caused is regretted."
