According to Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), the works will begin September 15 and continue until September 29. BESCOM had earlier issued a public advisory announcing scheduled power interruptions on September 13 and 14, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in some areas as well.
Power Outages
BESCOM announced that several neighborhoods under its Hebbal division will experience daily power cuts between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. until September 29. The outages, which may last up to eight hours, are part of the second quarterly maintenance exercise at the 66/11 kV Adugodi Substation.Engineers will overhaul 11 kV breakers, service On-Load Tap Changers (OLTC) for Transformers 2 and 3, and carry out routine transformer upkeep to ensure long-term network reliability.
The following areas will be without power on specified dates:
September 16 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.): Koramangala, Madiwala, Venkateshwara Layout, Adugodi, Jogi Colony, St. John’s Staff Quarters, Maruthi Nagar, CAR Police Quarters, St. John’s Hospital, 100 Feet Road, Bannerghatta Road, KHB Colony, Kaveri Layout, SG Palya, Madiwala Market.
September 17 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.): Weavers Colony, AMC Gottigere, Mantapa, Ragihalli, Kasaraguppe, Bannerghatta National Park, Basavanapura, Mylasandra, Lakshmipura.
September 17 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.): CK Nagar, Singasandra, Hongasandra, Huskur, Kudlu, Muneshwara Layout, Parappana Agrahara.
Other localities expected to be affected during the maintenance window include 5th Block Industrial Area, Koramangala (Blocks 3–7), Chikkadugodi, MICO Layout, Bhuvanappa Layout, Krishnanagar Industrial Layout, and Siddhartha Colony.
Water Supply Disruption
Earlier, BWSSB has also announced a three-day shutdown of Cauvery water supply from September 15 to 17. Pumping stations under the Cauvery Water Supply Project will be shut for urgent maintenance, hitting core city areas the hardest.Residents in central Bengaluru have been urged to store sufficient water in advance, as many of these households lack borewell access or alternate water sources. Outskirts may experience less disruption due to greater reliance on private tanker services.
Officials from BESCOM, KPTCL, and BWSSB emphasized that these works are essential for strengthening Bengaluru’s power and water infrastructure. Residents are advised to plan their schedules around the outages and take precautionary measures to minimize inconvenience.
