Unable to lead the life she wanted, a 38-year-old adopted daughter allegedly hacked her mother to death in Bengaluru. The shocking incident came to light on Sunday morning, when police found a 75-year-old woman murdered inside her residence in Sarjapur.

The victim is Muniyamma, a resident of Kote Street in Sarjapur and the accused is Chandramma, who has confessed to the crime, as reported by TOI.

The dead body was first found by Muniyamma's son Srinivas, who came to her residence to take their pet for a morning walk and left shocked. When he questioned Chandramma about the incident, she told him that some miscreants had barged into the house at night and killed Muniyamma.

When the police reached the spot, they found that Muniyamma had been hacked to death with a machete, which was used on the left side of the victim's head.

When questioned by the police, Chandramma repeated the same story she had told Srinivas, but further probing broke her and she confessed to her crime. Chandramma first protested her innocence but later confessed to the crime, Superintendent of police (Bengaluru Rural) Mallikarjun Baladandi told TOI.

Chandramma thought that Muniyamma was restraining her from leading the life she wanted and so she decided to kill her, Baladandi said. Police further suspect that the victim might have been hacked to death while she was asleep.

According to the victim's son Srinivas, Chandramma was only seven-month-old when she was adopted by his mother. Muniyamma raised her and later got her married off to a man. When Chandramma's husband passed away 14 years ago, she brought her back home and both were living together since then.
