UTI retains top slot in MF space

The total AUM of 29 MF houses as compiled by AMFI dropped to Rs 2,91,199.81 crore last month, from Rs 3,06,781.56 crore in August.

NEW DELHI: UTI Mutual Fund has retained its numero uno position as the country's largest MF house despite a fall in its total assets under management last month.
According to data available with Association of Mutual Funds in India, UTI Mutual Fund's AUM dropped to Rs 34,755.11 crore in September, from Rs 35,027.49 crore in the previous month.
Prudential ICICI has also retained its position as the country's second largest MF house with total AUM of Rs 30,210.38 crore at the end of September excluding the assets under fund of funds (FoFs), down from Rs 34,118.87 crore in August.
The total AUM of 29 MF houses as compiled by AMFI dropped to Rs 2,91,199.81 crore last month, from Rs 3,06,781.56 crore in August.
The market observers said the fall in the AUMs of fund houses could be attributed to their recent buying spree and a fall in the cash collection from new fund offers over the past one month.
According to the AMFI data, Reliance MF was placed at the third position with AUM of Rs 28,648.37 crore and HDFC MF was at fourth position with AUM of Rs 25,638.55 crore in September.
Reliance MF also witnessed a modest fall in its AUM last month from Rs 28,753.28 crore in August, while HDFC MF's AUM stood at Rs 25,891.63 crore at the end of August.
Franklin Templeton MF was ranked at fifth position with total AUM of Rs 23,060.19 crore at the end of September, down from Rs 24,198.24 crore a month ago.
