Srei Mutual Fund to raise $ 500 million

Since minimum subscription for the fund is Rs one crore, this infrastructure fund will focus on large investors.

KOLKATA: Srei Mutual Fund plans to mop up around $ 500 million through its infra-structure debt fund. Since minimum subscription for the fund is Rs one crore, this infrastructure fund will focus on large investors.

"We will be targeting Q4 FY 2012 - 13 for the fund launch wherein in-vestments from the fund can be made only after the closure of NFO as per MF regulation. Since this fund is an infrastructure sector fund, we will be looking at sub sectors which provide good regulatory clarity like toll roads, power transmission etc," said Hemant Kanoria, chairman & managing director, Srei Infrastructure Finance.

Presently, infrastructure sector has good demand of funds and investment opportunities exist in projects at various stages such as brown-field expansion, completed projects etc. "This being the first fund from our stable, we will mitigate risk by focusing on companies or groups with good credit profile and track record," Kanoria added.
