Sarojini Dikhale has become the first woman to lead a mutual fund house in India. LIC Nomura Mutual Fund has appointed her as the new director and chief executive officer.

With over 32 years working experience, she has joined the fund house from LIC of India, the parent company and the country’s largest insurer.

Dikhale holds bachelor's degree in Arts, a Master's degree in Economics from Mumbai University and a post-graduate Diploma in advance marketing from the International Institute of advanced marketing. She is also a Law graduate and an associate of the Insurance Institute of India.

She had joined LIC as a direct recruit officer in 1983. She successfully led the Goa division for four years as senior divisional manager.

“Under her leadership, the Goa Division won several awards and accolades for sales and service and also won the Chairman's Trophy for overall excellence,” the asset management company said in a release.

LIC continues to be the sponsor of LIC Nomura Mutual Fund.
