His exit comes as Sundaram is set to buyout the Indian asset management business of US-based financial services group Principal in an all cash transaction, which is waiting for approval from the markets regulator.

Sundaram has begun search for a fund manager to fill his position, said managing director Sunil Subramaniam.
S Krishna Kumar, chief investment officer--equity at Sundaram Mutual Fund has resigned after a 17-year-stint at the fund house. Krishna Kumar is likely to start his own firm.

Sundaram has begun search for a fund manager to fill his position, said managing director Sunil Subramaniam.

Krishna Kumar joined the fund house in December 2003 as an equity research head before moving to the fund management team and heading it. Known for his calls in the mid and small cap space, Krishna Kumar is known to meet companies and attend analyst conference calls himself.


His exit comes as Sundaram is set to buyout the Indian asset management business of US-based financial services group Principal in an all cash transaction, which is waiting for approval from the markets regulator.

As of December 2020, Sundaram Mutual managed assets of Rs 31,761 crore with equity contributing Rs 21,150 crore to the total corpus. The acquisition of Principal will add Rs7448 crore to Sundaram's assets under management.
