Quant Mutual Fund announces appointment of Rajnish Kumar as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AMC. Kumar is former Chairman of State Bank of India and brings over four decades of unparalleled experience in Indian and global banking, according to the monthly release by the fund house.

The fund house further said that since retiring from SBI, Rajnish has advised leading corporates and global institutions, becoming a trusted voice in governance, risk management and financial innovation. “His stature and strategic acumen will provide quant with the perfect blend of trust and foresight as we deepen our responsibility towards investors,” the release said.

Sandeep Tandon led fund house also announced the appointment of Nishith Mehta as Chairman and Independent Director of the AMC Board. Mehta has over 15 years of experience as Asia-Pacific Head of Compliance & Operational Risk and India Chief Compliance Officer at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Prior to this, Mehta held senior compliance leadership roles at Lehman Brothers, Kotak and Edelweiss. He recently joined Trilegal to establish and lead its pioneering Risk & Compliance Practice, and now brings his depth of expertise and reputation for regulatory integrity to Quant AMC.

The fund house further informed that together, Rajnish and Nishith represent a formidable ascent and transformation in leadership — combining boardroom experience, strategic foresight and regulatory stewardship — reinforcing quant’s mission to deliver responsible innovation, including the launch of India’s first Specialized Investment Fund (SIF).

The fund house is set to launch its first offering under the SIF framework -‘QSIF Equity Long-Short Fund’ in September itself and the fund is designed to help investors build wealth through a set of alternate strategies (Using derivatives) from the long-short investing domain.

QSIF Equity Long-Short Fund offers some advantages such as capture opportunities on both the upside and downside, limit market-wide risk exposure, and hedging mechanisms help buffer against sudden downturns.

The fund house is set to launch seven new funds under the SIF framework. Apart from QSIF Equity Long-Short Fund, the other six includes, QSIF Equity Ex - Top 100 Long Short Fund, QSIF Sector Rotation Long Short Fund, QSIF Hybrid Long Short Fund, QSIF Active Asset Allocator Long- Short Fund, QSIF Debt Long Short Fund, and QSIF Sectoral Debt Long Short Fund.
