Mutual fund SIP collection falls marginally to Rs 8,231 crore in August

Mutual fund investors continue to pour in money through SIPs. Mutual funds received Rs 8,230.76 crore via SIP in August, marginally lower than the collections last month, shows Amfi data. In July, mutual funds collected Rs 8,324 crore via SIPs.

"The fall in monthly collection is marginal. Investors continue to invest in mutual funds through SIP based on their goals. Despite the market volatility, the SIP numbers continue to remain stable," says NS Venkatesh, Chief Executive, Amfi.

SIP AUM on the other hand has risen from Rs 2.69 lakh crore in July to Rs 2.71 lakh crore in August.


Equity mutual funds saw the second highest level of net inflows to the tune of Rs 9,152 crore in the last 10 months. The total monthly redemption in August was the lowest in the last nine month at Rs 7,750 crore.

AUM of equity mutual funds remained almost flat at Rs 6.84 lakh crore as on August 31.

ELSS or tax-saving funds mobilized funds worth Rs 1,274 crore.

Total industry AUM rose by 3.8 per cent month-on-month to reach Rs 25.47 lakh crore as on August 31.

“The marginal rise in total AUM was mainly influenced by liquid fund inflows,” says Venkatesh.

The liquid funds saw net inflows of Rs 79,428 crore in August as against Rs 45,441 crore last month.

Credit risk funds continue to witness net outflows to the tune of Rs 2,269 crore in August. Last month, the category saw net outflows of Rs 3,411 crore. The category AUM has fallen from Rs 79,644 crore in April 2019 to Rs 68,404 crore in August.
