Invesco MF Hires Motilal's Taher Badshah

Shortage of talent is leading to a huge churn in the fund management space, as asset management companies poach from each other. Invesco Mutual Fund is the latest to hire Taher Badshah, equities head from Motilal Oswal Asset Management, to head its equities team. At Motilal Oswal, Badshah managed the Motilal Oswal MOSt Focused 25 Fund and Motilal Oswal MOSt Focused Midcap 30 Fund.

With increase in competition, MFs are looking to grab the best talent to stay ahead of the game.After Kenneth Andrade quit IDFC Mutual Fund, the fund house roped in Anoop Bhaskar, who headed equities at UTI. UTI MF in turn hired Vetri Subramaniam, CIO of Invesco MF. “The industry needs to develop a second line of homegrown talent, given the high growth expected in the coming years,“ says Manoj Nagpal, CEO, Outlook Asia Capital.

Retail investors have been pouring money into equity MFs over last few years.
