HDFC Mutual Fund temporarily restricts subscription in HDFC Silver ETF Fund of Fund

HDFC Mutual Fund has temporarily restricted subscription in HDFC Silver ETF Fund of Fund post the cut-off time on October 14 until further notice. The fund house informed about this restriction through a notice cum addendum.

“In light of recent volatility in the prices of Silver, to protect the interest of investors, it has been decided to temporarily restrict subscriptions in HDFC Silver ETF Fund of Fund (“the FOF”) after cut-off time (3:00 PM) on October 14, 2025 until further notice,” the notice cum addendum said.

These subscription transactions shall be accepted upto a limit of Rs 1 lakh per PAN per day (at first holder level) - lumpsum purchases /switch-ins and new systematic registrations such as Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), Systematic Transfer Plan into the FOF (STP-in), etc.

The fund house further informed that all existing systematic registrations, such as SIP, STP, etc. and all redemption/switch-out transactions shall continue to be processed.

All other terms and conditions of the aforesaid scheme will remain unchanged. This Addendum shall form an integral part of the SID / KIM of the aforesaid scheme as amended from time to time.

HDFC Mutual Fund is the first fund house to restrict subscription in its silver ETF Fund of Fund, whereas five fund houses - Kotak Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, UTI Mutual Fund, TATA Mutual Fund, and ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund have completely suspended the subscription in their respective silver ETF FoF.

These fund houses cited that in view of the current scenario and to protect the interest of the investors, the fund houses have decided to temporarily suspend all fresh subscriptions through lumpsum investment (including additional purchases / switch-in) in their respective Silver ETF Fund of Fund.

These five fund houses also informed that the aforesaid suspension is temporary in nature and will continue only till further notice in this regard.
