Axis Mutual Fund signs MoU with NISM to promote financial literacy

Axis Asset Management Company has signed an MoU with National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), a prominent institution for teaching and training in securities market, to promote financial literacy in the country.

NISM has designed Financial Literacy Certification Programme & Mutual Fund Investor Awareness Programme targeted at high-school students to promote the habit of saving, budgeting, financial planning and investing. The institute plans to reach out to more than 150 schools and over 25,000 students in the next one year.

This MoU envisages to conduct programmes in schools across the country with a special focus on districts adopted for financial literacy under the District Adoption Program (DAP) of AMFI. The DAP covers districts like Varanasi, Alleppey, Darjeeling, Hissar, and Sambalpur. The list of districts is not exhaustive and the programmes can be extended to schools in any district of India on the basis of mutual agreement.

This initiative with NISM will ensure that students gain their basic understanding and importance of money through savings and investments. Imparting financial knowledge to such audience will surely enhance the literacy to these institutions and pave way for wealth creation.”

Professor K Sukumaran, Dean of NISM, said that the pilot project will be launched in Varanasi. “NISM is joining Axis Mutual Fund, the leading mutual fund house in India, to take literacy to school level, thus enlightening the younger generation with basic concepts of prudent money management,” he added.
