Year-ender 2024: 34 equity mutual funds delivered negative returns to investors in 2024

In other words, out of 425 equity schemes, around 34 funds have offered negative returns on SIP investments in the current calendar year.
Three equity funds delivered double-digit negative returns on SIP investments made on January 1, 2024. The Quant PSU Fund reported a negative XIRR of 20.28% on these SIP investments. If an investor had made a SIP investment of Rs 10,000 in this fund, the current value of this investment would be Rs 90,763.
Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund recorded a negative XIRR of 11.88% during the same period. The returns of Aditya Birla SL PSU Equity Fund decreased by 11.13% in the same period.
The next seven schemes on the list were from Quant Mutual Fund. The returns offered by Quant Consumption Fund, Quant Quantamental Fund, and Quant Flexi Cap Fund decreased by 9.66%, 9.61%, and 8.36%, respectively, in the current calendar year.
Quant Large & Mid Cap Fund saw a loss of 4.54% on SIP investments in 2024. The returns of UTI Transportation & Logistics Fund decreased by 4.05% in the same period. Quant Large Cap Fund and Quant Momentum Fund lost 3.74% and 3.35%, respectively, on SIP investments in the current calendar year.
SBI Equity Minimum Variance Fund posted a negative return of 3.06% on SIP investments in the same time frame. HDFC MNC Fund lost 1.51% in 2024, followed by Taurus Mid Cap Fund, which lost 1.45% on SIP investments in the same period.
Two PSU funds—ICICI Pru PSU Equity Fund and SBI PSU Fund—lost 0.86% and 0.67%, respectively, on SIP investments in the same period.
Tata Infrastructure Fund and Invesco India PSU Equity Fund posted negative returns of around 0.05% and 0.04%, respectively, on SIP investments in 2024.
