I am willing to invest Rs 50,000 in mutual funds. I need maximum returns from the investment. I am not desperate but I need the money around December and a minimum 8-10 per cent return will be sufficient. Give me some sure-shot ideas where risk level is lowest.

Your goal is hardly six months away. That means you should invest your money in a safer avenue like an ultra short term scheme. These schemes are unlikely to offer 10 per cent returns. Currently, the category is offering around 6.65 per cent returns in the last one year.

Since you are new to mutual funds and do not know much about them, you must consult a seasoned mutual fund advisor before investing.
