I am 32 years old. Please suggest where I should invest? I mean which type of scheme: Equity, hybrid or debt? I want Rs 50 lakh after 10 years. Accordingly, suggest mutual funds. I can take moderate risk

Raj Talati, Founder, ABM Investment, based in Vadodara, responds:

Investment in equity, hybrid and debt depends on a lot of aspects like your risk profile, income, expenses, goals, liabilities. Only after analysing it, asset allocation can be decided. Many times investors jump into the equity market looking at the past 2-3 years returns and when the cycle reverses they are required to withdraw it at losses, in absence of proper planning. So, instead of looking at markets, look at your goals. Any amount required in 2-3 years must be invested in short term debt funds. You can invest in equity funds only you have a long investment horizon. I would recommend contacting a professional who can help you with this.
