Axis Long Term Equity Fund
ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund
Franklin India Smaller Companies
Kotak Standard Multicap Fund
Canara Robeco Emerging Equities Fund
I have also been investing Rs 2,000 in Kotak Standard Multicap Fund directly for the past 12 months. I am planning to invest additional Rs 10,000. My mother, who is a family pensioner with annual pension less than Rs 3 lakh, will be sharing Rs 5,000.
My idea is to invest the entire Rs 10,000 in two schemes for a period of 10 to 15 years (Rs 5000 in each fund).
My long-term goals are: child’s future and personal goals.
My queries are: Are there any corrections, like shifting of funds, required in my portfolio? For the additional Rs 10,000 that i am looking to invest, which funds should I choose with 10 to 15 years of horizon. And third, most of my portfolio is managed by 'Aditya Birla My Universe'. Should I invest directly with the fund house?

Gaurav Monga, Director, PxG Consultants, responds:
As you are investing for your long-term goals, equity is the right asset class to invest. You have selected good schemes, with fair distribution towards different categories of equity funds. Axis Long Term Equity Fund is an ELSS scheme. Investments in it will give you tax benefit under section 80C. The scheme has a mandatory lock in period of three years. If tax-savings is not your requirement, you can switch to Axis Multicap Fund, which is a non-tax savings equity scheme. You should continue to invest in the existing schemes. Also, you can allocate the additional Rs 10,000 that you want to invest in the same schemes in the following manner:
ICICI Prudential Bluechip Fund: Rs 2,000
Kotak Standard Multicap Fund: Rs 2,000
Franklin India Smaller Companies: Rs 2,000
Canara Robeco Emerging Equities Fund: Rs 2,000
Axis Long Term Equity Fund: Rs 2,000
