I have investments in Nippon India Tax Saver Fund. I have completed the lock-in period. The fund has given very less returns, even in comparison to FD. Should I keep this fund? Or should I sell it?
--Shweta Mittal

Nippon India Tax Saver Fund is a tax savings scheme that comes with a three-year mandatory lock-in period. You have not shared the details like when you have made the investment. So we can’t offer personalised advice. We looked at the performance of the scheme. It has performed well in terms of trailing returns. It offered 29% in three years and 26% in one year. Even yearly returns are impressive. It offered 18% in 2020, 38% in 2021, and 7% in 2022. It’s not clear whether you are commenting about the returns in the last year. Please remember equity mutual funds do not offer linear or predictable returns like fixed deposits. The yearly returns could be high or low or moderate. However, you may get double-digit returns over a long period.
