To generate a corpus of Rs 50 lakh in five years, you need to invest more than Rs 56,000 per month. It is not advisable to set a higher return expectation in this time horizon. Equity will give you better returns over a longer period.
You are already investing in a largecap fund and a midcap fund. SBI Consumption Opportunities is a thematic fund. This is a high risk fund. An investment horizon of more than seven years will be more suitable for this type of schemes. This scheme invests in FMCG and healthcare stocks and is subject to cyclical nature as well. If you are an aggressive investor, you can consider investing in this fund for a long-time horizon of more than seven years through an SIP.
