I was advised to make a lump sum investment of Rs 3.5 lakh in Reliance top 200 Fund or HDFC Prudence Fund or in both proportionately. Kindly advise if this is a right move.

Ankita Tanna Narsey, Founder, Oaktree Financial Advisors, responds:

Reliance Top 200 Fund is a large cap fund, where as HDFC Prudence is a balanced fund. So both these funds have a different investment mandate. I'm not sure what your purpose of investment is and the tenure that you are looking for. In absence of this basic information, I can not comment on whether this is a good decision or not.
