I have been investing in Reliance Large Cap Fund (now, Nippon India Large Cap Fund) for the past one year. The scheme’s NAV is declining. Should I hold my investments or exit the scheme? I have a moderate to aggressive risk profile.

I am also investing in the following mutual funds:
Tata Digital India Fund
Axis Bluechip Fund
SBI Small Cap Fund
Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip Fund
Mirae Asset Tax Saver Fund
Nippon India Large Cap Fund

I am investing Rs 5,000 per month in each of these schemes via SIP. My investment horizon is long term, say, 10 years. I am investing for my daughter's education and marriage. Is my asset allocation correct? Please advise.

Dilshad Billimoria, Founder, Dilzer Consultants, responds:

Your asset allocation is a result of your risk-taking ability. A risk analysis must be done to determine your risk profile. Your asset allocation would be based on your risk profile and financial goals, which you have already mentioned.

I would ask you to stay away from sectoral/thematic funds. You may add debt/gold and other asset classes with some international exposure.

The NAV of Reliance Large Cap Fund (now, Nippon India Large Cap Fund) was hit after Sebi’s re-categorisation of mutual funds changed its mandate. I would recommend you to stick to the scheme for some more time and keep a close watch.
