I have been investing in SBI Bluechip Fund (regular plan- growth) through SIP for one year. At present, it is giving me a loss of around 2 per cent. Keeping in mind the present market conditions of India as well as the world, and the recent forecast of Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman on recession, is it viable to continue in this scheme?
--Varun Sharma

SBI Bluechip Fund has given negative returns (-5.12 per cent) last year. However, you shouldn’t judge the performance of your equity mutual fund based on its one-year performance. Give it some time as the scheme has a good track record. Most large cap mutual funds have returned negative or single-digit returns last year. If you are conservative equity investor investing for a long-term financial goal, you may continue with large cap scheme.
