I am 25 years old. I am currently investing Rs 8,000 via SIPs in each of the following funds:

Reliance Small Cap Fund (G)
L&T Emerging Businesses Fund
DSP BlackRock Natural Resources and New Energy Fund (G)

I plan to stay invested for more than 10 years. My investment through SIPs will increase over a period of time. I just want to know if I am on the right path? And should I add more funds to my portfolio?

Chokkalingam Palaniappan, director, Prakala Wealth Management, responds:

Since you are investing for the long term, smallcap and midcap funds are fine. Instead of DSP BlackRock Natural Resources and New Energy Fund, you may invest in SBI Small Cap Fund. DSP Black Rock Natural Resources and New Energy Fund is a sectoral fund carrying higher risk.
