Quant Small Cap Fund raised its exposure in Adani Enterprises, HDFC Bank and eight other stocks in March, according to the latest portfolio disclosure by Quant Mutual Fund.

The monthly portfolio shows that the fund added 2.96 lakh shares of Adani Enterprises, taking its total holding to 27.64 lakh shares in March, up from 24.68 lakh shares in February.

Similarly, the fund increased its stake in HDFC Bank by 7.53 lakh shares, bringing its total holding to 21.48 lakh shares in March.

Among the other eight stocks, the fund added 3.66 crore shares of IRB Infrastructure Developers and 75 lakh shares of Manappuram Finance, taking total holdings to 7.33 crore and 1.48 crore shares, respectively. It also added 16 lakh shares of Ravindra Energy and 14.90 lakh shares of Sequent Scientific. The other four stocks where the fund increased its stake were Black Box, Capri Global Capital, Marathon Nextgen Realty, and Sudeep Pharma.

The fund did not exit any stock completely or reduce its stake in March. Safari Industries (India) was added as a new entrant, with 91,433 shares worth Rs 1,308 crore.

Exposure in 89 stocks remained unchanged, including names such as Adani Green Energy, Adani Power, Gillette India, Gland Pharma, HDFC Life Insurance, ICICI Bank, Jio Financial Services, Juniper Hotels, Just Dial, Karnataka Bank, RIL, Sula Vineyards, and Zydus Wellness.

In March, the fund held 100 stocks, up from 99 in February, spanning nearly 25 sectors. Assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 25,820 crore, down from Rs 27,653 crore in February.

The fund’s primary objective is to generate capital appreciation and long-term growth by investing in a portfolio of smallcap companies. Launched on October 29, 1996, its performance is benchmarked against Nifty Smallcap 250 TRI and managed by Sandeep Tandon, Ankit Pande, Varun Pattani, Ayusha Kumbhat, Yug Tibrewal, Sameer Kate, and Sanjeev Sharma.

According to the fund house, the scheme targets long-term investors with a high-risk appetite, focusing on high-growth, under-owned companies with attractive valuations.

Quant Mutual Fund said that its focus on increasing the mix of largecaps in the portfolio over the past year reflects a defensive market view, which has helped improve portfolio liquidity and mitigate the impact of high transaction costs.

As a result, drawdowns have been contained compared to broader market declines. During the month, the fund further increased exposure to financial services and healthcare companies, the fund house added.
