Mutual funds with the best 20-year track record

Investors are often told by their advisors that equity mutual fund schemes give good returns in the long run. And most of them do. Any long-term disciplined investor will vouch for that. Hence, it will be interesting to see how equity mutual funds, which have been around for more than 20 years, have fared since their inception in comparison with their benchmarks. Sifting through the data provided by Value Research, ET Intelligence Group discovered that of the 30 such equity schemes, 15 funds, such as HDFC Equity, Franklin India Bluechip, DSP BlackRock Equity, ICICI Prudential Multicap and Reliance Growth, have consistently beaten the Nifty in every five-year interval from 1998 to date.
