I want to start two SIPs to get some positive returns by next year. My current mutual fund portfolio is: Motilal Oswal: Rs 5,000; L&T: Rs 2,500.

Which are the best mutual fund schemes?

Ashish Modani, Founder, SLA Financial Solutions, responds:

For sure-shot positive returns by next year, you can stick to liquid funds or ultra short duration funds.

It seems, you are currently investing in equity schemes. Equity schemes can give highly unpredictable returns in one year. They can also be very risky in the short term and you may end up losing your money.

One should think of investing in equity mutual funds only if s/he has an investment horizon of at least 7 to 10 years.
