BCCL
I have invested a lumpsum for three to five years. I am investing to earn higher returns than bank funds. Here are the schemes I have invested:
HDFC Balanced Fund: Rs 44,000
Kotak Emerging Equity Scheme: Rs 20,000
ICICI Prudential MIP 25: Rs 1 lakh
Aditya Birla Sun Life Pure Value Fund: Rs 5,000
I am a new investor. I invested in these funds after looking at the online recommendations. Is my fund selection right?

Apoorva Vora, CEO, Finolutions Wealthcare, responds:

I believe you have considered the risk factors before taking a decision based on online recommendations. You do have a higher chance of making returns in excess of bank FDs, but you need to be flexible on your time frame and preferably closer to 5 years. Since you mention of being a new investor, I do suggest consulting a financial planner and understand the market risks first. The funds that you have invested in are by and large fine. You may continue investing in them.
