I am thinking of investing Rs 8,000 per month via SIPs for three years. I am a beginner. Kindly tell me the procedure to start an SIP. Is it advisable to start SIPs in different AMCs? I am thinking of starting SIPs in at least four mutual fund schemes with a mix of largecap, midcap and smallcap schemes. Kindly suggest where should I start from.

It is not advisable to invest in equity schemes with an investment horizon of three years. You should invest in equity schemes only if you have an investment horizon of at least five to seven years. Equity is very risky and volatile in the short-term. Investing with a long-term horizon helps to reduce risk.
