I have invested Rs 20 lakh in Axis Focused 25 Fund seven months ago. I want to invest another Rs 30 lakh for three years. Also, I want to start a monthly SIP of Rs 30,000 for 25 years. How should I design my portfolio for the best returns?

Harpreet Singh, Certified Financial Planner, responds:

You must have got decent returns from Axis Focused 25 Fund in the last seven months. The stock market is expensive and there can be corrections. I hope you have a long-term perspective towards equity-based investments. I will not recommend investing Rs 30 lakh in equity at the current high valuations for three years as that may lead to erosion of capital or significantly low returns. Keep the money in a short-term debt fund. An SIP of Rs 30,000 for 20 years is a great idea. You can divide Rs 30,000 and invest in a mix of largecap, smallcap and midcap schemes. I will recommend annual review of fund performance and start asset allocation as that will help you meet life goals. It is advisable to take the help of some qualified financial planner.
