How to create a corpus for my daughter’s marriage?

If you have any mutual fund queries, message on ET Mutual Funds on Facebook. We will get it answered by our panel of experts.

I am 47 years old. I will have a pension after my retirement. I have a 14-year-old daughter. I started investing in mutual funds via SIPs from January 2017. My risk appetite is moderate. I have a long-term investment plan for 12 years. I want to accumulate wealth for my daughter's marriage and my retirement fund. I have an adequate term insurance, mediclaim, etc. Please suggest any correction or addition in my portfolio to get higher returns in the long term.
My current portfolio:
Stocks: Rs 2 lakh
Mutual funds:
Franklin India Prima Plus (G): Rs 5,000
SBI Bluechip Fund (G): Rs 5,000
ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund (G): Rs 5,000
DSP BlackRock Micro Cap Fund (G): Rs 1,000
Please let me also know, whether NPS can be opted as an investment option for a period of 12 years taking tax benefit into consideration.

Ankita Narsey, a mutual fund advisor, responds:

You have diversified your SIP portfolio well. Continue with your existing SIPs and review them on a regular basis. You can consider increasing your SIP amount (SIP top up) as and when possible.

No investment product is good or bad, it’s just that the features of a product may not suit all investors. NPS is suitable for someone who does not want to manage their retirement corpus in debt and equity. NPS corpus is only partially tax-free, so if you are looking at NPS only for tax benefit, you should consider this point.
