HDFC Mid Cap and Quant Small Cap among 16 equity mutual funds to deliver over 20% XIRR on SIP investments in 7 years
Sixteen equity mutual funds delivered over 20% XIRR on SIP investments over the last seven years, with smallcap funds dominating the list. Quant Small Cap Fund topped the list with a 26.93% XIRR.

These 16 mutual funds delivered over 20% XIRR on SIPs.
A further analysis of the data showed that 160 funds gave double-digit gains and 31 funds gave single-digit returns. The list of 16 funds included some prominent names such as HDFC Mid Cap Fund, Quant Small Cap Fund, Invesco India Smallcap Fund, Nippon India Small Cap Fund and others.
The top six funds in the list were small caps. Quant Small Cap Fund topped with an XIRR of 26.93% over the last seven years on SIP investments. A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in the fund would have grown to Rs 21.86 lakh.

Bank of India Small Cap Fund and Invesco India Smallcap Fund offered an XIRR of 25.19% and 22.98%, respectively, in the last seven years on SIPs.
Nippon India Small Cap Fund, the largest smallcap fund based on assets managed, delivered an XIRR of 22.70% on SIP investments. DSP Small Cap Fund and Union Small Cap Fund delivered an XIRR of 22.09% and 21.59%, respectively, in the last seven years.
Invesco India Midcap Fund, a midcap fund, delivered an XIRR of 21.12% in the last seven years on SIP investments. A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in this fund would have grown to Rs 17.80 lakh.
This was followed by two smallcap funds. HSBC Small Cap Fund and LIC MF Small Cap Fund gave an XIRR of 20.93% and 20.86%, respectively, in the last seven years on SIP investments.
Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund, a midcap fund, posted an XIRR of 20.80% on SIP investments in the said time period, with a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP growing to Rs 17.61 lakh.
Sundaram Small Cap Fund saw a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP grow to Rs 17.45 lakh with an XIRR of 20.55% in the said time period. Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap Fund delivered an XIRR of 20.53% in the said time period, with a Rs 10,000 SIP growing to Rs 17.07 lakh.
Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund, the fund with the highest NAV, delivered an XIRR of 20.36% in the last seven years. This was followed by HSBC Midcap Fund, which delivered an XIRR of 20.35% and saw the same monthly SIP grow to Rs 17.33 lakh.
HDFC Mid Cap Fund, the largest midcap fund based on assets managed, saw a Rs 10,000 SIP grow to Rs 17.16 lakh with an XIRR of 20.08%. This was followed by Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund, which gave an XIRR of 20.02% in the same period.
Other funds' performance
Quant Flexi Cap Fund and Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund delivered an XIRR of 19.20% and 19.11%, respectively, in the last seven years. HDFC Small Cap Fund posted an XIRR of 17.95% on SIP investments.SBI Contra Fund, the largest and oldest contra fund, delivered an XIRR of 16.60% over the mentioned time period. SBI Midcap Fund delivered an XIRR of 15.25% in the same time period.
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund, the largest active fund and flexicap fund based on assets managed, delivered an XIRR of 14.28%. This was followed by Quant Focused Fund, which generated an XIRR of 14.25%.

Two ELSS funds - Tata ELSS-Tax Saver Fund and Mirae Asset ELSS Tax Saver Fund - delivered an XIRR of 12.65% and 12.56%, respectively. Shriram ELSS Tax Saver Fund and Shriram Flexi Cap Fund delivered an XIRR of 6.49% and 6.45%, respectively.
