I am 26 years old. I am investing Rs 3,000 per month in Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip Fund, Reliance Large Cap Fund, and SBI Banking & Financial Services Fund. I will increase my investment by Rs 1,000 per annum. My goal is to build a corpus of Rs 50 lakh in 15 years. Kindly review my portfolio.

Pankaj Gera, RLP, CFA, CFP, responds:

Congratulations on not only starting early but also having a well defined goal. You have selected a large & mid cap, a large cap, and one thematic fund. Thematic funds should not be more than 10 per cent of your portfolio. Banking & Financial Sector is a high beta and volatile fund. Considering your long horizon, you may consider shifting your large cap to mid cap (Axis or L&T etc.) fund. To reach your goal of Rs 50 lakh in 15 years, keep increasing your SIP amount with every increase in your income.
