You have said you are investing in DSPBR Mutual Fund. Either you have omitted the name of the scheme or you do not understand much about investing in mutual funds. To begin with, you do not actually invest in a fund house, but in a scheme offered by the fund house. For example, you are not actually investing in DSPBR Mutual Fund, but DSPBR Opportunities Fund, which is a scheme offered by the fund house.
You should choose your investment options based on your goal, horizon and risk profile. For short-term goals, you should opt for debt mutual fund schemes. Debt schemes are relatively riskier than bank deposits, but they may offer marginally higher returns. For long-term goals, you should invest in equity mutual funds. Equity mutual funds invest in stocks and they can be risky and volatile in the short-term, but they also compensate for the extra risk with very high returns. It is always better to invest in a staggered manner in equity mutual fund schemes, and you should invest in them only if you have a horizon of five to seven years.
Since you are a new comer to mutual funds, you should consult a mutual fund advisor before investing.
