Ask
ET Mutual Funds: Shall I continue with my existing schemes?
I am 29 years old. I am investing via monthly SIPs of Rs 2,000 in UTI Retirement Pension Benefit Fund since July 2015 and Rs 1,000 in UTI Equity Fund and ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund since July 2016. I am planning to start a monthly SIP of Rs 1,000 in ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Fund. Shall I continue with the existing funds? Please advise

Deepali Sen, Founder, Srujan Financial Advisors, responds:

All your funds have been performing well. You can continue with your investments in them.

In addition, do look at the following two points, if you haven't considered them already for building your investment portfolio:

• The amount of investments which need to be be made per month should be linked to the money you will need for your goals, as and when (how much you need, when you need and what's the priority of the goal).
• Do build an emergency fund by investing in liquid/ultra short term funds. The amount could be 4-5 times your monthly expenses. This will help you tide through any unexpected contingency (apart from the planned goals)
