I am 35 years old. I am ready to take 50 per cent risk and planning to invest for three years. I don't need this fund for five years and I am expecting a return of 20 per cent CAGR. Kindly suggest me some suitable mutual fund schemes. I am planning to invest around Rs 1 lakh per month.

Amit Suri, CEO and Chief Financial Planner, AUM Wealth Management, responds:

To begin with, I would ask you to pare down your expectations from 20 to 12-15 per cent. However, if you go by the past returns, you may also generate 20 per cent, but expecting it is different. Also, you said you want to invest for three years and withdraw after five years. If you can continue to invest even beyond the initial three years, you will create a much larger corpus. Based on your age and investment horizon and risk taking abilities, I would recommend you to do SIPs in the following schemes: Franklin India Balanced Fund, HDFC Balanced Fund, ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund, and Birla Sun Life Equity Fund.

ET Mutual Funds adds: You can also look at the mutual funds portfolio created by us to serve investors like you. You can choose a portfolio based on your risk-taking ability and SIP amount.
