Ask ET Mutual Funds: Help me choose a scheme from the list
For my retirement in 15 years, I am currently investing Rs 2,000 per month in both HDFC Top 200 Fund (direct/growth) and ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund (direct/growth). I want to start a new SIP of Rs 4,000 per month (direct/dividend) as a core fund. I have shortlisted four schemes: BSL Advantage (MultiCap), BSL Equity (MultiCap), BSL Frontline Equity (Largecap) and BSL Top 100 (Largecap). Please help me to select one fund from the list. I am an aggressive investor and I have a very long investment horizon in mind. All these funds are 5-star rated and they have an expense ratio of around 1 per cent.

Bina Pandit, Certified Financial Planner, Dristi Investment Solution, responds:

All these funds are good funds, you can consider BSL Equity Fund. You can also consider a midcap fund as you have a very long investment horizon. Any good midcap scheme like Franklin India Smaller Companies Fund or DSP BlackRock Small & Mid Cap Fund will do.

ET Mutual Funds adds: if you are a long-term investor trying to create wealth, you should not opt for the dividend option for your new investment. Dividend is a form of taking the profits out. If you want to create wealth for a long period, you should choose the growth option.
