I am 42 years old and a government employee earning Rs 70,000 per month. I want to invest Rs 3,000 every month for 10 years. Kindly suggest me the best option.

Abhishek Gupta, founder and chief financial planner, Moat Wealth Advisors, responds:
Considering your investment horizon, equity as an asset class should give you the best risk-adjusted returns over the long term. You can choose any of the diversified equity funds to start a monthly investment of Rs 3,000. Kotak Select Focus Fund and Birla Sun Life Equity Fund are good options.

Additionally, I would recommend that you continue your monthly investments in spite of volatility in the short term as you need the money after 7-10 years.
