12 equity mutual funds turned Rs 10,000 SIP into Rs 10 crore since inception. Are they in your portfolio?
A Rs 10,000 monthly SIP in 12 equity mutual funds grew to more than Rs 10 crore since their respective inceptions, an ETMutualFunds analysis found. Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund topped the list with Rs 27.13 crore, followed by Franklin India Mi...

The analysis further showed that of these 312 equity mutual funds, 100 turned a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP into over Rs 1 crore since their respective inception dates, with the highest value reaching Rs 27 crore as on date.
The top two funds were midcap. Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund (earlier known as Nippon India Growth Fund), launched in October 1995, turned a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP into Rs 27.13 crore, with an XIRR of 21.77% since its inception.

Franklin India Mid Cap Fund (earlier known as Franklin India Prima Fund) turned the same monthly SIP into Rs 22.13 crore, with an XIRR of 19.23% since its inception in December 1993.
The next two funds were from HDFC Mutual Fund. Two funds from HDFC Mutual Fund - HDFC Flexi Cap Fund (Earlier known as HDFC Equity Fund) and HDFC ELSS Tax saver (Earlier known as HDFC TaxSaver Fund) - turned the SIP investment to Rs 21.37 crore and Rs 19.94 crore respectively since their respective inceptions. The funds were launched in March 1996 and January 1995 respectively.
This flexi cap fund and ELSS fund by HDFC Mutual Fund delivered an XIRR of 19.94% and 20.70% respectively since their inception and HDFC Flexi Cap Fund is the second largest flexi cap fund based on assets managed.
Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund (Earlier known as Franklin India Equity Fund) turned Rs 10,000 SIP to Rs 15.57 crore with an XIRR of 18.38% since its inception in September 1994.
SBI ELSS Tax Saver Fund (Erstwhile known as SBI Long Term Equity Fund) turned the same SIP to Rs 13.87 crore with an XIRR of 16.86% since March 1993. This ELSS fund is the oldest ELSS fund.
Franklin India Large Cap Fund (Earlier known as Franklin India Bluechip Fund) turned the same SIP to Rs 12.81 crore with an XIRR of 16.84% since December 1993.
HDFC Value Fund, a value fund, launched in February 1994, turned the SIP amount to Rs 11.46 crore with an XIRR of 16.47%. The fund was earlier known as HDFC Capital Builder Value Fund.
Nippon India Vision Large & Mid Cap Fund (Earlier known as Nippon India Vision Fund), a large and mid cap fund, turned the SIP amount to Rs 10.72 crore with an XIRR of 17.42% since October 1995.
ICICI Prudential Multicap Fund (Erstwhile known as ICICI Prudential Top 200 Fund) turned investors’ SIP investment of Rs 10,000 to Rs 10.70 crore with an XIRR of 16.62%. The fund was launched in October 1994.
Tata Mid Cap Fund turned the same SIP amount into Rs 10.17 crore with an XIRR of 17.37%. The fund was launched in July 1994 and was earlier known as Tata Mid Cap Growth Fund.
SBI Large & Midcap Fund (Earlier known as SBI Magnum Multiplier Fund) turned a Rs 10,000 SIP into Rs 10.08 crore. Launched in February 1993, the fund has offered an XIRR of 15.53% since then.

The other 88 funds turned the same investment ranging between Rs 1 crore and Rs 8.55 crore since their respective inception date. SBI Contra Fund, the oldest and largest contra fund, turned the Rs 10,000 monthly SIP into Rs 6.79 crore since its inception, with an XIRR of 18.18%.
Quant Small Cap Fund turned the same SIP amount into Rs 4.83 crore with an XIRR of 14.30% since its inception. Quant Multi Cap Fund and Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund turned Rs 10,000 SIP to Rs 3.88 crore and Rs 3.78 crore, respectively.
Kotak Small Cap Fund turned Rs 10,000 monthly SIP to Rs 1.95 crore with an XIRR of 16.12% since its inception. Invesco India Midcap Fund turned the Rs 10,000 monthly SIP into Rs 1.83 crore since its inception, with an XIRR of 18.43%.
Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund turned the same monthly investment to Rs 1.65 crore with an XIRR of 18.56%. Aditya Birla SL Value Fund and Franklin India Focused Equity Fund turned the same SIP to Rs 1.04 crore and Rs 1 crore, respectively. The funds gave an XIRR of 14.88% and 13.67%, respectively.
The analysis considered all equity funds, excluding sectoral and thematic funds. It included regular and growth options and calculated the SIP performance of all funds from their respective inception dates.
