US President Donald Trump bought at least $1 million worth of shares each in Meta Platforms, McDonald’s and Microsoft in August, and also purchased at least $1 million in SpaceX debt.
US President Donald Trump purchased at least $1 million each in shares of Meta Platforms, McDonald’s and Microsoft in August, while also acquiring at least $1 million in SpaceX debt, according to a financial disclosure released on Thursday, Bloomberg News reported.

The 18-page filing, published by the US Office of Government Ethics, details 517 transactions completed during the month. Trump’s investment accounts have recorded thousands of transactions each quarter, involving tens of millions of dollars and shares of major companies whose business interests are affected by his administration’s policies.

His largest disclosed purchase in August was Meta stock valued at between $5 million and $25 million. Federal officials must report transaction values within broad ranges rather than disclose exact amounts.

Trump also traded shares of Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices, two chipmakers central to the artificial-intelligence boom. His administration has strongly supported the AI industry, which has become a major issue in the midterm election campaign amid debates over data centres, energy consumption and safety regulations, as per Bloomberg reported.

He also acquired stakes worth at least $1 million in Comcast, Netflix, Abbott Laboratories, ConocoPhillips and Chevron.

The filing disclosed purchases and sales of municipal bonds, along with a tranche of debt issued by Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies. Trump bought the SpaceX notes on August 18, and they mature in July 2031. He also purchased Tesla shares valued at no less than $51,000.

Trump has not divested his assets or placed them in a blind trust overseen by an independent manager, as previous presidents have typically done. He is the only US president this century to maintain investment accounts that actively buy and sell stocks while in office. At the same time, he has supported legislation seeking to ban members of Congress from trading shares.

His extensive business empire is managed by two of his sons and operates in several industries that intersect with federal policy.

The Trump Organisation has said that independent third-party financial institutions manage the president’s stock and bond holdings and retain complete control over investment decisions. It has also said that transactions are executed through automated processes without involvement from Trump, his family or the company.
