Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1344.63 points at 54318.47

India 10-year bond yield declined 0.40 per cent to 5.98 after trading in 5.98 -6.04 range.

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.

Uttam Sugar Mills(up 19.99%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 10.99%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 10.98%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 10.46%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 7.67%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 7.55%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 7.41%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 7.41%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 7.03%) and KCP Sugar & Industries(up 6.59%) stood among the top gainers.

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 4.93%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 417.0 points up at 16259.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1344.63 points at 54318.47.

Hindalco Industries(up 9.58%), Tata Steel(up 7.72%), Coal India(up 7.48%), JSW Steel(up 6.57%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 6.29%), Tata Motors(up 4.64%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 4.53%), Reliance Industries(up 4.2%), ITC(up 4.17%) and Wipro(up 3.99%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.17%) closed in the red.
