Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.44%) stood among the top gainers.

BAJAJHIND(down 5.80%), Rana Sugars(down 5.51%), AVADHSUGAR(down 5.36%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 4.85%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 4.82%), Shree Renuka Sugars(down 4.47%), DCM Shriram Industries(down 4.38%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 4.32%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 3.85%) and KCP Sugar & Industries(down 3.77%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 258.6 points down at 17154.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 897.28 points at 58237.85.

Tech Mahindra(up 6.84%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.64%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 7.4%), State Bank of India(down 3.17%), Tata Motors(down 3.09%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.71%), Eicher Motors(down 2.65%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.49%), Infosys(down 2.48%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.38%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.3%) and Axis Bank(down 2.29%) closed in the red.
