Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Thursday's session.
Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 5.76%), Mawana Sugars(up 4.38%), Simbhaoli Sugars(up 4.14%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 2.02%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 1.65%) and Ugar Sugar Works(up 1.17%) stood among the top gainers.
Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 5.24%), Balrampur Chini Mills(down 5.04%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 4.99%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 4.97%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 4.86%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 4.73%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 4.71%), Shree Renuka Sugars(down 4.51%), Rana Sugars(down 4.26%) and BAJAJHIND(down 4.05%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 430.9 points down at 15809.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1416.3 points at 52792.23.
ITC(up 3.32%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.61%) and Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.18%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Wipro(down 6.25%), HCL Technologies(down 5.99%), Infosys(down 5.44%), Tech Mahindra(down 5.43%), Tata Consultancy(down 5.42%), Tata Steel(down 4.92%), JSW Steel(down 4.89%), Hindalco Industries(down 4.38%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 4.37%) and IndusInd Bank(down 4.09%) closed in the red.
