Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

KCP Sugar & Industries(down 13.52%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 13.10%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 9.37%), AVADHSUGAR(down 9.30%), DCM Shriram Industries(down 9.14%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 9.05%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 8.87%), Mawana Sugars(down 8.61%), Rana Sugars(down 7.97%) and Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 7.77%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 531.95 points down at 16842.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1747.08 points at 56405.84.

Tata Consultancy(up 1.05%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, JSW Steel(down 6.68%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 6.39%), ITC(down 5.59%), Tata Motors(down 5.49%), Tata Steel(down 5.39%), HDFC(down 5.34%), State Bank of India(down 5.32%), Shree Cement(down 5.27%), ICICI Bank(down 4.69%) and Indian Oil Corporation(down 4.51%) closed in the red.
