Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 9.58%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 9.24%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 8.99%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 8.15%), DCM Shriram Industries(down 8.15%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 7.73%), Rana Sugars(down 7.39%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 7.27%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 6.90%) and Ugar Sugar Works(down 6.48%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 468.05 points down at 17149.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1545.67 points at 57491.51.

Cipla(up 2.84%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.25%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, JSW Steel(down 6.67%), Tata Steel(down 6.03%), Bajaj Finance(down 5.99%), Grasim Industries(down 5.66%), Hindalco Industries(down 5.59%), Wipro(down 5.34%), Tech Mahindra(down 5.05%), Titan Company Ltd(down 4.95%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 4.83%) and Tata Motors(down 4.66%) closed in the red.
