Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 4.95%) and Simbhaoli Sugars(up 0.83%) stood among the top gainers.

Mawana Sugars(down 4.39%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 3.31%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 3.15%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 2.86%), Bannari Amman Sugars(down 2.83%), Sakthi Sugars(down 2.78%), AVADHSUGAR(down 2.37%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 2.36%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.28%) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 2.20%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 284.45 points down at 16912.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 949.32 points at 56747.14.

UPL Ltd(up 0.53%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Coal India(down 7.01%), IndusInd Bank(down 3.73%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 3.45%), Bajaj Finserv(down 3.4%), HCL Technologies(down 2.98%), Bharti Airtel(down 2.89%), Tata Consultancy(down 2.86%), Tata Motors(down 2.69%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.61%) and Wipro(down 2.54%) closed in the red.
