Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed in the Wednesday's session.

Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 6.62%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 4.78%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 4.76%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 4.53%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 4.51%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 4.40%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 4.29%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 4.14%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 4.12%) and Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 3.78%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 324.41 points at 23559.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 984.23 points at 77690.95.

NTPC Ltd.(up 0.28%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 4.34%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.22%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.09%) and ITC Ltd.(down 0.14%) closed in the red.
