NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 6.26%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 4.04%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 3.55%), Rana Sugars Ltd.(down 3.47%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 3.24%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 3.06%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 3.06%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 2.86%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 2.85%) and Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 2.63%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 247.2 points down at 21951.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 790.34 points at 72304.88.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.68%), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.46%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.36%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.12%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 4.43%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 3.91%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 3.48%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 3.25%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 3.03%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 2.94%), Wipro Ltd.(down 2.59%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.53%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 2.52%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.51%) closed in the red.
