Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Friday's session.
Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 2.22%) and EID Parry(up 0.17%) stood among the top gainers.
Ugar Sugar Works(down 2.51%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 2.37%), Shree Renuka Sugars(down 2.30%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.26%), Rana Sugars(down 2.09%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.07%), Bannari Amman Sugars(down 2.06%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 1.93%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 1.91%) and BAJAJHIND(down 1.69%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 186.8 points down at 18069.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 694.96 points at 61054.29.
Titan Company Ltd(up 2.34%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.69%), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.68%), Nestle India(up 1.5%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.3%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.08%), Asian Paints(up 1.01%), ITC(up 0.98%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.92%) and Larsen & Toubro(up 0.87%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 5.91%), HDFC(down 5.58%), IndusInd Bank(down 5.4%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.53%), UPL Ltd(down 2.28%), Tata Steel(down 2.16%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.66%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.24%), NTPC(down 1.19%) and Infosys(down 1.13%) closed in the red.
