Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Thursday's session.
KEC International(up 6.12%), Indowind Energy(up 4.92%), Adani Transmissions(up 4.10%), Karma Energy(up 3.20%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.90%), Energy Development Company(up 2.36%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 1.81%), Inox wind(up 1.72%), DPSC(up 1.18%) and Suzlon Energy(up 1.00%) stood among the top gainers.
Jyoti Structures(down 4.91%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 2.09%), Reliance Power(down 2.05%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.79%), KPI Green Energy(down 1.79%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.29%), Tata Power Company(down 1.15%), SJVN(down 0.72%), Voltamp Transformers(down 0.62%) and GE Power India Limited(down 0.39%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 68.5 points up at 18191.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 223.6 points at 61133.88.
Eicher Motors(up 2.17%), Bharti Airtel(up 2.11%), State Bank of India(up 1.79%), Tata Steel(up 1.59%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.4%), SBI Life(up 1.33%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.14%), Axis Bank(up 1.07%), ICICI Bank(up 1.01%) and JSW Steel(up 1.01%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.4%), Tata Motors(down 1.38%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.04%), UltraTech Cement(down 1.02%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.99%), Britannia Industries(down 0.86%), Bajaj Finserv(down 0.72%), Coal India(down 0.69%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.6%) and TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.52%) closed in the red.
